Painted Interior

There's one thing about my Equinox that I hate and that is some of the interior bits. Chevy decided to make the interior almost completely gray. Then, they decided to paint some of the door trim and center stack (stereo, climate control center, etc.) silver. Yuck! I decided something had to be done.

As you can see by the stock photo, the door panels are one big sea of gray with some almost-black material at the top:

So I got my trusty model spray gun out with some satin black, some sand paper, and went to town:

I suspected that the satin would not match, but I knew it'd be a good base for whatever the final color would be. Here is the non-matching satin-black:

I picked up some gun-metal gray, mixed just a spec of satin-black with it, and I do believe it came out perfect!

The new black band now breaks up the non-pleasing sea of gray. I haven't decided if I'm going to touch the door handles or not (since they're high-ware pieces). And I will be doing the center stack surround next weekend.
